My Approach
My name is Arevik (Air-ah-vick) (she/her) and I am a counsellor who works with teens and adults. My approach is centered on the belief that individuals and their context are interconnected. This lens was shaped by my lived experience and career path. I immigrated to Canada with my family when I was an adolescent and faced many challenges that had a significant impact on my mental health. In hopes of preventing those negative experiences for other immigrants, I began my career at a local settlement agency where I helped newcomers settle and find their career path in a new country. In this role, I was introduced to the systemic barriers that created additional challenges on successful integration. My intimate knowledge of the interplay between power and privilege is the foundation of my systematic lens. I am passionate about the connection between individuals and their context. The story that lives within that connection is important. Together we can work to both honour your story and re-imagine the pieces that are meant to evolve.
When life becomes foggy with transitions, extra responsibilities, social and familial pressures, it can quickly feel like too much. We may start feeling overwhelmed, lost, and unmotivated about our next steps. Working harder just isn’t doing the trick anymore and soon we feel burnt out and hopeless. My work lies in supporting you to move towards a more manageable, inviting path. Tell me your story and together we can take those first steps to honouring, healing, and growth.
