My Approach
My name is Rudy and I love people! I am a Therapy Dog in training which means it’s my job to snuggle, receive pets, and give kisses to clients. I take my job very seriously. Sometimes a little too seriously and I get a bit carried away with the kisses, but I just want you to know that you are loved and so special! I have been taking classes since I was a puppy to learn how to be a good boy and trained really hard so that I can be the best at this job.

I work with kids, youth, and adults! My favourite offices are the ones with couches so that we can cuddle together, but not if there are pillows! I don’t like those things in my space. I also like to sit on chairs, and sometimes try to squeeze behind the therapist on their chair (don’t they know that I am the one doing the work here??). In sessions I often have my favourite bone and kong with me so that I can demonstrate how to ground and regulate.

I love to play and be silly, especially with kids. I know a few tricks that I will proudly show off if there are treats involved. I have a big, swoopy tail that wags hard because I am just so darn happy to see you! But my mom says it can be dangerous if there are spillable things on nearby coffee tables. If you give me pets and scratches and then suddenly stop I will be asking you questions about it with my grunting voice because it is a fact that humans feel better when they are petting and scratching dogs. It’s just science. I’ve been told I have soulful eyes, and I think that’s because I love looking deep into your eyes. It makes me feel more calm and I bet it helps you feel more calm too!

I most often join my mom Maddie for her sessions, but I like to join the other therapists too! They just need to schedule it with my mom first. If you would like me to be a part of your sessions, let your therapist know and the humans will make it happen. I can’t wait to meet you!
